Dr. Jahraus is board certified in Radiation Oncology by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) and he is current and meeting requirements for maintenance of certification by the ABR. He is a Fellow of the American College of Radiation Oncology and a Fellow of the American Society for Radiation Oncology, recognizing his significant service to the society, contributions to the field, and overall excellence.

Originally from rural North Dakota, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Bethel College in St. Paul, Minnesota before receiving his Medical Doctor degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine. Thereafter, he did an internship in Pediatrics at Washington University’s St. Louis Children’s Hospital and a residency in Radiation Oncology at the University of Kentucky (UK). 

While a resident at UK, he did two visiting fellowships in pediatric radiation oncology, one at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and another at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis. Prior to entering private practice, Dr. Jahraus was an Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he was recognized with the University of Alabama Health Services Foundation Circle of Excellence Award for dedication to patient care.

He has published more than ten first-author research papers in peer-reviewed journals including the International Journal of Radiation Oncology-Biology-Physics, Tumori, Experimental Biology and Medicine, and multiple others. His research has resulted in the issuance of six patents worldwide.

Since entering private practice, Dr. Jahraus has enjoyed the ability to focus on highest quality patient care foremost, offering a compassionate approach that appreciates patients as more than their diagnosis.

Dr. Jahraus is married to his wife Gina, originally from Talledega County, Alabama. Together, they have five children. Dr. Jahraus is an active member of Christian Life Church in Birmingham, and counts his faith in Jesus Christ as the most important part of his life.
