Using Xialla With a Vacuum Pump: Step by Step

Contents

Xialla can be used on its own or with other erectile dysfunction (ED) treatments, including medication, injections, and vacuum erection devices (pumps). Customers often ask for detailed instructions for their specific pump. This guide covers the main pump styles.

Maximum continuous wear for Xialla is 30 minutes. Remove it before sleeping, and remove it immediately if the penis becomes numb, cold, discolored, or painful. See using a constriction device safely.

Xialla and different ED pump styles

Xialla can be used with any style of ED pump, including:

It can also be used with pumps that include constriction rings (sometimes called tension systems or tension bands) and with pumps that do not.

Pumps that come with rings include:

Pumps that do not come with rings are less common. Examples include:

How to use Xialla and an ED pump that comes with rings

Pumps that come with rings require the ring to be stretched around the base of the vacuum tube. Once the penis is erect, the ring is slipped off the tube onto the base of the penis, where it slows venous outflow.

If you use this style of pump, you can use Xialla in place of the rings that came with it. Xialla's ring-plus-anchor design holds compression in place during intercourse more reliably than an unanchored ring.

Steps:

  1. Fit the Xialla ring over the pump using the cone, the same way you would fit the ring that comes with the pump.
  2. Fit the pump over the penis with the Xialla loop and band hanging downward.
  3. Use the pump as usual to achieve an erection.
  4. When you have finished pumping, slip the Xialla ring off the pump onto the penis.
    • Note: If your pump's ring forms the seal and then releases from the pump to stay on the penis (for example Vacurect), place Xialla behind the pump's ring, closer to the pubic bone. Then remove the pump and the pump's own ring, leaving only Xialla.
  5. Remove the pump from the penis.
  6. Pull the Xialla loop around your scrotum and attach the band firmly to the adhesive pad above your buttocks. (Instructions for this step.)

How to use Xialla and an ED pump that doesn't include rings

Pumps without rings can still be used with Xialla. Use Xialla in place of whatever ring you ordinarily use after pumping, or apply Xialla immediately after pumping if you do not use a ring.

Steps:

  1. If you use a ring, place it around the base of your penis. If you don't, skip this step.
  2. Use the pump as usual to achieve an erection.
  3. Remove the pump.
  4. Place Xialla around the base of the penis. If you also used a ring, position Xialla between that ring and your body, then remove the other ring.
  5. Pull the Xialla loop around your scrotum and attach the band firmly to the adhesive pad above your buttocks. (Instructions for this step.)

Using Xialla after pumping

A vacuum pump draws blood into the penis. Xialla slows venous outflow once the pump is removed, so the erection is held by retention rather than by continued vacuum. The two address different sides of the mechanism and are often used together.
